St Stephen (SC) Timberland offensive lineman Quinton Washington was introduced by SCVarsity.com this past season as one of the Class of 2009's top football players. Now, the 6-4, 318lbs offensive tackle has his first offer on the table after a school visit by South Carolina.

"Coach Steve Spurrier, Jr was in school today," said Timberland head coach Art Craig, "and extended an offer for Quinton."

According to Craig, Spurrier, Jr, said they recognized the big sophomore during the AAA State Championship game and were impressed by his athleticism and feet for such a big man.

Washington is definitely athletic. He finished 5th overall in the unlimited category at the State Strength Championships this season as a sophomore. He bench pressed 330lbs, squatted 550lbs, and jumped a 27 inch vertical jump - very impressive for a big man. He also ran a 5.6 40 yard dash.

"We're excited about this young man," said Craig. "He's got a world of potential and he's really still growing and will get a lot stronger than he already is."

Washington will be attending the 2007 SCVarsity.com All-State Football Combine.
