Notes: Also competed in track and field as a California prep. Redshirted in 2006. Appeared in eight games in '07 (one start) and rushed 19 times for 112 yards (5.9-yard average) and a touchdown. Played all 13 games in '08, starting the final 11 in place of injured starter Luke Lippincott, and led the Western Athletic Conference in rushing by toting 236-1,521-15 (6.4) with 30 receptions for 243 yards (8.1) and three TD. Started 6-of-11 games in which he played in '09 - rushed 172-1,345-10 (7.8) with 12-99-2 (8.3) receiving and five punt returns for 10 yards (2.0). Dislocated his right elbow against Missouri and did not play against UNLV. Also was academically ineligible for the Wolfpack's bowl game. Started all 13 games in which he played in '10 and carried 284-1,610-19 (5.7) with 18-226-3 (12.6) receiving. Sprained his left ankle against Hawaii and sat out against Utah State. Fumbled 15 times his last three seasons (played with a bulky elbow brace as a junior).
Positives: Good speed and burst - has shown repeatedly he can pop the big run (gained 6.5 yards per carry over his career). Quick-footed with good run balance, body control and pad level. Agile to cut off blocks. Spins off contact and scraps for yards. Effective receiver out of the backfield. Takes pride in blocking - keeps his head on a swivel and aggressively faces up rushers.
Negatives: Lacks ideal height and bulk and cannot run with power. Does not have a sledgehammer mentality inside - braces for contact and does not push the pile. Production was inflated by "pistol" offense with an athletic quarterback. Fumbling is a concern. Questionable maturity.
Summary: Compactly built runner who lacks exceptional traits, but has a balanced skill set and is capable of chipping away at a defense. Could develop a role on third downs and compete on special teams, but fumbling tempers his draft value.†
